SEO Tips for a New Business Website

Search engine optimization for a new website is mostly unglamorous groundwork. Get these fundamentals right and you give Google everything it needs to understand and rank your pages. Skip them and no amount of content will help.

One page for each thing you want to rank for

A single page cannot rank well for website design, e-commerce development and landing pages at the same time. Give each service its own page with its own title, headline and content written for that specific search intent.

Write titles and descriptions for people

A page title should read like a sentence a person would click: what the page offers and who it is for, under about 60 characters. The meta description does not affect ranking directly, but it strongly affects whether anyone clicks your result.

  • One H1 per page, matching the page's purpose
  • H2 and H3 headings in a logical order, not chosen for keyword density
  • Descriptive alt text on every meaningful image
  • Clean, readable URLs without random parameters

Answer real questions

Most search queries are questions: how much does a website cost, how long does it take, do you work with small businesses. A FAQ section with genuine answers captures those searches and can appear as a rich result — as long as the questions are visible on the page and answered honestly.

Link your own pages together

Internal links tell search engines which pages exist and how they relate. Link from your homepage and services page to service pages, location pages and articles, using descriptive link text rather than "click here".

Fix speed before buying traffic

Compress images, avoid unnecessary scripts, and make sure the main content appears quickly on a mobile connection. Slow pages lose visitors regardless of ranking.

Set up Search Console on day one

Verify the site in Google Search Console, submit the sitemap and then watch which queries actually bring impressions. That report tells you what to write next far better than any keyword guess.

In short

Structure, honest content, internal links, speed and Search Console. Everything else in SEO builds on those five.
